The Role
The HR Internship was great. I had a lot of great opportunities to learn more about the bank and the wider HR teams. My line managers gave me pieces of work which were meaningful and so made my time feel worthwhile. I was supported well, both by my LMs and my buddy. I would definitely recommend it.
The work I did within my team was supporting one member only and the work was very separate from the wider team. For this reason I think I felt less valued. However, there were times where I did do things for the benefit of the wider team such creating a powerpoint presentation for the Half Year event and this was very much appreciated.
My managers were really supportive and helpful in guiding me throughout my internship.
This varied a lot because of the project I was working on and my objectives. At the beginning of the Internship I felt I didn't have too much to do but then there were other times where I had enough or sometimes felt a little under pressure, which is normal. Compared to other interns I think I had quite an easy time.
Not too much responsibility. I was more there for support purposes. I think it would've been better to be given a real project to work on where I had to collaborate with more people.
I have developed people skills, presentation skills, writing skills, analytical skills etc. this will all help. I also know more about HR so this will help me in my studies
The Company
The atmosphere was great. the team got on really well together so there was always a pleasant buzz. I felt uncomfortable in other areas as it seemed dead silent.
The organisation on the part of my Line manager was perfect. They really thought about what the best job would be for me within the team and looked to give me enough work to keep me occupied. I feel however, that the Early Career team weren't so organised and so this made some elements of the internship more challenging than it should have been.
Didn't really have any formal training. Some basic excel training beforehand, then some informal webinars during the internship.

Really good. There is a lot of opportunity at RBS to more around internally and to advance both up the way but also to broaden your leadership skills and experience. The grad scheme sounds brilliant.
The Culture
Yes, however there was a cliche formed amongst those students who all lived together.
Fine.
Good
Not so much.
