The Role
To a great extent. I met lots of people and learnt a lot. It was a more relaxed environment than i expected - as long as you get your work done and you work quickly and efficiently then it's a lovely atmosphere in the office. I got to visit different teams as well as just my own so I got a broad insight to the business.
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues, I had real responsibility and they trusted me to help with their jobs too. We got along really well and my team were very friendly and supportive. Great working environment where people really want to help you.
My line manager was not that great with communication when it came to completing mid and end of placement reviews, I reported mainly to an individual that was not my line manager - she was very helpful and I could ask her about almost anything I was struggling with.
Great balance - I like being busy and I always had a long list of things to do. I worked slightly longer hours but it was fine because I enjoyed what I was doing. This internship isn't for people who enjoy slacking off, you have to complete tasks to a good standard and quickly with sometimes little guidance, but it is much better to be busy than bored. I was certainly never bored!
A great deal of responsibility was put on my during the internship. I had to do real tasks to help my team with their meetings. You also have to organise a lot of meetings etc. but this level of responsibility to complete tasks that make a difference to your team have given me a real insight into the real corporate world of work.
I would say I have developed a lot of skills, not to help with my degree as much but definitely within thr working world. The main things is that I am so comfortable in a corporate/interview/meeting situation so you certainly develop confidence and communication to a large extent.
The Company
Great atmosphere! Lovely people, very helpful, very sociable. There were regular social events in the office and casual drinks arranged after work. People are so friendly and accommodating - just an overall enjoyable place to work! One of the best points about the internship!
Not very well organised I felt but you can get by. There seems to be a bit of a problem with communication - HR are not that good at responding to your queries quickly or even to the extent you asked, and my line manager was slightly in the dark a lot of the time as to what she should be doing, but this did not really impact on the internship experience overall from a learning perspective.
We had a lot of training in induction which was top quality and very good! I loved it and learnt a lot. The support material too was great and they give you all sorts of extra things you can utilise like books and harvard certificates! This was a great aspect of the internship.
Great - do well and you get to the grad scheme.
The Culture
Not really - needs to be more but I still made friends.
