The Role
With National Grid there are loads of opportunity to travel arround the country on work. Which can be enjoyable.
People have been warming and happy to help or include me in work and site visits.
Worked with a very experienced manager, who was able to offer loads of advice, in all areas of my work.
Sometimes work load can be insufficient, which can lead to boredom. However a variety of work can be obtained from other people arround the office.
I was tasked with forecasting the requirement for engineers over the next 10 years, with little verification from my manager. Which will ultimatly affect the number of staff employed over the coming years.
Although not necessarily technically orientated, the skills will help me to organise my work and life, a head start for university and future jobs.
The Company
One of the better National Grid offices, where people are friendly and joke arround.
Joining paperwork was issued very late, meaning there was a rush. Other than this there have been no issues with organisation.
I have attended a number of training courses, from self development workshops to highly technical courses.
Flexi Time
Above 25 days holiday
Will definatly consider coming back to work with National Grid, but have concerns about working for such a large impersonal company.
The Culture
I was the only student in my location, so cant comment. But i have received invites for meals and other get togethers from other students
Living near the centre of Leeds is expensive, but food and drink is resonably priced.
A huge variety of clubs, for all types of music taste, even metal! Loads of pubs and restaurants dotted about.
Being away from the National Grid hub, there was little in the way of activities, there are friendly sporting opportunities such as football, also get together events such as meals.
