The Role
The internship was a really good experience, I was exposed to different aspects of the team responsibilities. I have particularly enjoyed the client-facing side of the programme and learning more about the relationship management. Although sometimes the tasks I was assigned were not challenging enough, I believe that overall it was a good programme and I have learnt more about the products that are offered by the business.
I have received some positive feedback on the tasks I have completed from various people within my team also with regard to my communication skills and interaction with the clients. Even though I am aware that some of my tasks were quite simple, I appreciated the fact that other team members thanked me for them and although they were simple, someone had to do them and they contributed to the overall team tasks.
I have received a fair amount of support from my supervisor. I understood the fact that he was sometimes very busy and could not discuss with me some issues I may have had. But overall I feel that I have got enough support and guidance from my LM and also from my colleagues and whenever I did not understand anything I could easily approach anyone and everyone was happy to help.
As usual, there were busy days/weeks and the more quiet ones but for most of the time I was busy with daily responsibilities and with the projects that were ongoing throughout the programme.
I was not given much responsibility but this is fully understandable given the fact that it was just a summer internship but I did get some responsibility as some of my research was then used in internal papers presented to committees etc.
Communication and interaction skills, knowledge on products, ability to multitask are all important in my personal development and I really appreciate the fact that I could develop them throughout my internship with the Royal Bank of Scotland.
