The Role
Was overall very enjoyable.
Very high extent. Was valued & treated like a regular employee.
Highly extensive. My LM was incredibly professional.
Ups and downs. Sometimes I was under a lot of pressure, sometimes the work was very relaxed.
A lot. The first half involved familiarising myself with all the knowledge required. Because I progressed quite quickly, in the end I was doing work on the same level as the rest of the team.
To no degree, as I am about to finish university.
The Company
Average. There was some events, but given the fact it's commercial banking, everybody was fairly relaxed.
This was one of the downsides. I didn't receive my pass for 4 weeks, which prevented me from feeling as part of the company. I didn't have access to the computer system for the first week, which was a little poor. Furthermore, I had to request things such as internet access, printing access etc. Also, why was I automatically enrolled for the pension scheme? I'm an intern. I know you want to invest people's money RBS, but come on!
Was overall very good. The Fitch training was very professional, and incredibly well structured. The Excel training was particularly beneficial.
Flexi Time
Healthcare/Dental
Depends where you want to work. Do you enjoy sales & trading? RBS is not for you. Do you enjoy commercial or private banking? Absolutely go for it.
The Culture
Actually yes. All the interns were pretty keen on going out, and if you hadn't, then perhaps you should have networked a bit better!
High, but it's Central London. What do you expect?
Awesome, see above.
Some existed. I didn't personally involve myself in any, however there were plenty of opportunities, including charity runs, sports events etc.
