    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt that the internship was very enjoyable in summary. There were a lot of opportunities to get involved with other teams and work. The team I was placed in were very friendly and helpful, and were willing to help with the tasks I was carrying out. They could have introduced more opportunities and given better feedback throughout.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Although I thought I was part of the team throughout and got on really well with my colleagues, I felt that they were not always willing to share their feedback which I received at the end and thought that I could have really added more value, had I been given the opportunity to work on it beforehand.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Although I asked for regular feedback and my line managers were aware of this, they did not have the time to actually give back detailed advice. At the end, however, I was given more criticism but it was really unfortunate that I could not have been given this information before as I think I could have worked on it. I felt that on the surface everything appeared to be fine, as my line managers did not raise any concerns until the end, at which point it completely changed.

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given quite a bit of work to do, but mostly admin tasks and of minor importance. I was given some more complex reports to work on but I was only able to assist on them. There were times were I was very busy but other times I did not have much to do, so it was very much a mix, there was no steady pace.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was not given a lot of responsibility but have learnt now that you need to ask for it constantly and in other teams to do if you need to as they expect you to find your own tasks and manage responsibility. I was given some more complex things to do, but I was continuously supervised throughout the process.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that I have worked on my time management and my assertiveness in handling responsibility and working with colleagues. I think that the knowledge I have gained will probably help a lot beyond my studies and I hope that I can use and improve on my skills.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There seemed to be some tension, but in general everyone did get on which each other, and there weren't any major issues.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • They managed to run the 10 week programme and set up events and interact with the interns well. However, I think there may have been too many interns - as there wasn't enough work for all of us to do.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As an intern there wasn't much training or development apart from the induction week which was quite good, as we had technical training learning about finance, and then excel training too.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would like to work here in the short term but not sure about the opportunities.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • 3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 3/5
