The Role
The internship was great, but finding work was sometimes a bit hard. However, the environment was very helpful and welcoming. I would recommend the RBS internship.
It was easy to see that my colleagues were happy to have me there. They were eager to give me responsibilities and I felt like I contributed to the team.
At RBS you get a buddy, a line manager as well as severeal points of contact. The careers team was not too easy to get a hold of, but the local managers were very keen to provide support.
When I was busy I was really busy and I got given a lot of responsibility at the same level as a regular employee. There were however quiet periods where I did work without responsibility.
I will have really good use of the skills I have gained both in University and in my further career.
The Company
The RBS headquarters are placed outsideof Edinburgh, and has great grounds which provide for a good work environment. The general feeling in the office was relaxed and fun and although work got done the atmosphere was great.
The organisation was terrible up to the point of starting the internship. There was a real lack in communication. When the internship started however it was well structured and I felt like there had been made a plan ahead of my arrival.
I got all the training that I reasonably could have been given and had opportunities for more if I wanted.

The graduate schemes with RBS are very appealing and a successful internship will lead to a position.
The Culture
The social side of the internship was very gppd, however this was all arranged by the interns, so everyone was not included.
Rent was about £600 a month, and a night out about £25.
Edinburgh night-life was impressive, especially as the internship took place during the festival.
Opportunities are there for those looking for them, but they are not widely advertised.
