The Role
I had an enjoyable and valuable experience within the Internship programme. The division i was placed in aligned with my studies and my interests. I had an excellent line manager who found the right line between guiding me and letting me get on with things. I had real responsibility and built the foundations for a project that will be continued and rolled out across the bank. I learned how to practically implement my ideas.
I felt a valued and respected member of the team and regularly had input into group conversations on performance. I was also asked to attend meetings to give my creative input on different projects. There was no situation where i felt beneath someone.
My manager found this balance perfectly. He helped me when i needed it and took an interest in my development and my interests. He was clear on what he wanted and i understoof exactly what was required from he. He led me but he also actively sought my input and we built trust and a friendship.
It varied with what was on but i worked good hours (9-5) and had things to do.
An unexpected level of responsibility which has been hugely valuable. I created something that will be rolled out into the bank.
I would have rathered be nowhere else as this has been hugely beneficial to my development. University teaches you about theory and ideas but being in this internship has taught me how to implement them. It has improved my work ethic and has made me a better leader and manage my time better which will be valuable for my final year at university and beyond.
The Company
A good level of seriousness with fun. Could have been a bit more banter.
Very well organised but i felt that was more to do with the line manager.
They have taught me a lot and invested a huge amount of time and effort into my experience.
National Travel
Extremely, everyone is lovely and it is hugely enjoyable.
The Culture
London was a bit fragmented.
Expensive (London).
Great pubs and atmosphere.
Not a huge amount. You do it at your own accord.
