The Role
I was given a lot of responsibilities and a lot of support to do my work. If you are proactive and don't want to do menial work, then I cannot recommend RBS enough.
My immediate colleagues were great; I did run into some disgruntled employees but they were not more than the industry standard.
The emphasis is on you to fill most of your day with the kind of work you like doing. I actively sought department projects and worked on the ones I found interesting. It is good if you take a proactive approach - you will get involved in projects you will enjoy - but the opposite is valid as well; if you do not engage enough, you will be bored.
I was given a lot of responsibility and I soon forgot I was merely an intern - I was doing valued work and management were depending on me to perform well.
My degree is very specific and not related to the industry, so the training I received will only assist me in future placements.
The Company
A lot of employees were very safe in their attitude and the atmosphere they created was based on (irrational) fear from management.
No structured training.
