The Role
The internship was very enjoyable. Coutts was a fun place to work with great colleagues, interesting clients and a good range of work to do.
All my colleagues were very supportive and approachable and by the end of the internship I was able to do work which contributed to the work of my team and the bank.
My line manager was excellent. We had regular chats, he took me to lots of client meeting and he gave me helpful advice throughout.
I had a good level of work which kept me busy on a day to day basis without overloading me.
I went to 14 client meetings so was given a lot of exposure to clients and the responsibility of representing the bank. I also spoke to a lot of clients on the phone. I was allowed to try a broad range of work and it was checked and I received feedback which helped me to develop.
I learnt about relationship building with a broad range of people which will be useful going forward.
The Company
The atmosphere was very relaxed with people chatting and joking but there was also a focus which allowed people to produce good quality work.
The internship was very well organised with regular sessions to gauge your progress. There was only one intern in each client group so the experience was unique to each client group but my internship all worked very smoothly.
There was some training but a lot of it was largely irrelevant to work at Coutts although the more specific Coutts sessions were interesting
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Coutts is a great place to start and develop if you want a career in Private Banking / Wealth Management.
The Culture
Only six interns so quite a small group but we got on well and went out for a few drinks / lunch. Also a couple of socials with the grads at the bank
Central London so expensive.
Lots of pubs, bars and restaurants. Also clubs nearby in the West End or Mayfair.
I played for the Coutts Cricket team which was good fun. Also a squash court which you can book.
