The Role
Very much enjoyed the internship due to the individuals in my team and the autonomy we had when completing projects.
Being on several projects this varied, however I do understand that it is hard to ascertain for an intern as staff are unaware of what your capable, style or learning etc. Nonetheless, my input was always valued and I feel I was able to heavily contribute to projects.
Given good support by all members of staff. All were there to support me if I had any questions despite them being busy. My line manager was very helpful.
This depended on the day, with some days being very busy, and other days required me to actively look for work. However taking initiative always meant I was busy throughout my time here.
I was given high levels of responsibility, doing the same work and contributing as much as senior members in my team.
Very useful, improved my skillset and taught me to take initiative.
The Company
Good general atmosphere due to the welcoming approach of my colleagues and as I quickly built relationships with them.
Partially organised, I felt this was not very well structured, evident as at times I had to search for work to do.
RBS are very good at training and developing their people, evident through their people focus and ample training opportunities provided.
Appealing due to the nature of the organisations focus on people and development. This is a good place to learn and can act as a launch pad in your career. The opportunity to earn a qualification is also enticing, however the lack of structure and work at times can be a worry.
The Culture
The social scene was average. Expected a lot more, occasional drinks were hosted, but generally average.
Cost if living is N/A. But from experience in Uni the area is very expensive, and unaffordable to most. Socialising cost is fairly high compared to other areas in London, but still affordable.
No night life provided by the organisation itself besides drinks. Generally organised by the interns or graduates, though this only happened once.
Yes there were other opportunities such as football, CSR and Sportsday. Would be good to provide more opportunities that more people can get involved in.
