The Role
The programme was engaging and stimulating, which, on long days under the piercing shine of artificial light, was propitious.
I was able to perform plenty of desk-specific tasks, allowing my colleagues the pleasure of an extra few minutes to conduct their tasks. They told me they appreciated this.
My line manager, driven both a desire to help me and the bank, was a more than apt mentor.
More due to character flaw than anything else, I did not personally chase work, but I was, for personal development or business needs, for better or for worse, busy.
I was granted the opportunity to do what I could.
I learned a lot of acronyms, and I found a love for bank capital structures.
The Company
Competitive and energetic, the office fostered a sense of purpose, which was fulfilling.
Many interns commented that they had never witnessed a better organised internship, including those who had already completed one.
I cannot knock the investment made in my personal development. I can only knock my inability to appreciate it.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
If I were able to add 6 hours to the day to sleep, then I would love to work for the firm.
The Culture
The interns were very sociable; a few even claimed to want to socialise because they actually liked each other.
I mean, London is London, and working as an intern does not exactly foster a miserly attitude.
Canary Wharf caters for only a small proportion of my interests; not withstanding, London as a whole satisfies them all. For in London, there exist all the wonders that the world can afford.
Indeed, I was unaccustomed to occupying myself with work-related matters outside of the proverbial office, but there were plenty of opportunities to do so, and I took them.
