The Role
Lots of opportunities to get involved with projects and meet people, several social events organized throughout the internship.
In IB it depends pretty much on the team, the experience can be quite different from one to another. I personally had a very good fit with mine
I was given a lot of latitude in doing my projects, full guidance helps save a lot of time though when it comes to meeting expectations
Very busy, although not overwhelmed. In IB we work a lot more than most other roles of course
Interns are not expected to take the lead on deals, however I had a fair part of exposure in the projects I was working on
The skills developed here will be definitely much more useful than a huge deal of what is learnt at school. It's all about efficiency and productivity
The Company
Very enjoyable in the team, professional in general bank-wide. Depending on the team, it can be quite relax or very conservative
Very well planned in advance - HR team very supportive for questions and info requests
In IB, really depends on involvement of the team members towards the intern. I am very grateful to mine for taking time to train me. Internship training is not much compared to analyst level and could go more in-depth towards practical skills required on the desk
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Likelihood that I will join full time is very high; I would be pleased to come back as an analyst. In IB, conversion ratios are generally quite significant
The Culture
I made some good friends among the class. We had a few social gatherings at the beginning, then we all got busy with our own duties. All are very present when there is an event organized though
In London, the cost of living is very high in general. Canary Wharf is very lively though and a nice place to live for the amenities there are. However different from the City life
Did not really have opportunities to experience, preferred to go to the city
Yes there are, all you have to do is set time apart for them, which can be tricky
