The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at EY. The experiences that I have gained here have exceeded my expectations - I had the opportunity to shadow a partner, experience working in different service lines and I have also expanded my professional network here. The firm really promotes flexibility in the workplace and focuses on allowing you to achieve your personal goals.
My team members were very friendly and helpful from day one. They had provided me with a lot of support and feedback along the way and I have learnt a great deal from working with them. I became comfortable working with them within the first week and felt like a welcomed addition to the team.
The support system at EY is very extensive. I had a buddy and counsellor that I could approach during my time here for any help or advice. My supervisor also provided me with guidance on the work that I was doing and always made sure that I understood the task at hand before asking me to complete it.
There were some days when I was extremely busy but free on others. The work is quite inconsistent, mainly due to the nature of audit. My internship had also been during summer, which is an off-peak period for the audit team. Hence, it had been quite a slow time and some days were spent doing online training.
I had been given quite a good amount of responsibility, exceeding my expectations as an intern. My supervisor had challenged me by giving me work that was supposed to be done by a level 2 associate, which was more intricate than most of the other work given to me. It pushed me to learn a great deal in a short amount of time and provided me with a greater sense of importance.
The skills I have developed here at EY are no doubt applicable outside of the company and back in university. I have learnt how to work methodically and efficiently and also how to work well with different kinds of people and personalities. My supervisors provided me with lots of feedback and development points that I can work on moving forward.
The Company
The general atmosphere is not too quiet and rather casual. It is quite a comfortable environment to work in (besides being too cold!) and everyone is generally very friendly and will assist you if you need any help - I could randomly have a chat with someone that I had not met before who was sitting next to me.
The organisers were very well prepared and we were provided with details of our induction well before our first day. They handed us off to our respective departments relatively well and made sure that we were put in contact with someone on our respective teams. We were always sent details about any events and instructions on meeting formal requirements etc.
The company invests quite a lot in you, with a week-long induction consisting of training and CSR day. I feel like we are treated like associates in the firm and are expected to produce work at the standard of an associate level. Supervisors also are willing to take the time to explain what goes on in a project and make sure you understand the processes well, or even have a chat about your goals and give you advice on achieving them.

Company Parties/Events
The company is expanding and I would say the prospects of employment are quite high within the organisation. It is rather appealing and I would most likely join if I get an offer from them. The student recruitment team really encourage you to carry on in the firm after the internship and hope that you accept their offer.
The Culture
The intern group generally organises many social events now and then to catch up as most of us are spread out across different floors or buildings. Everyone is generally sociable and willing to meet new people. I think the amount of social events held would generally vary across different intern groups as it depends how frequent someone is willing to organise an event.
The cost of living is generally quite high, being quite a central area in London. The bars around are moderately priced and there are a mix of restaurants with a range of prices to suit everyone. The shopping mall nearby also has a wide variety of shops to choose from and is very conveniently placed.
N/A
Yes, there are plenty of opportunities and we are encouraged to join the various networks that EY has to offer. These include different sports groups such as Netball, Dodgeball, Badminton etc. and also groups based on different hobbies and interests. I managed to join in for a netball training session on one of the weekends.
