    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • In the first few weeks, I enjoyed my Internship, as everyone was friendly and I spent my time becoming familiar with the company. However, as the Internship progressed there was a lack of available work and I became very bored.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues were all very friendly and welcoming.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisor was very friendly and when I was given tasks, they were explained well.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I had very little to do and became really very bored, writing my CV and Covering letters for other jobs, as there was nothing to do.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The few tasks I were given were very basic tasks that nobody else felt like doing, but this seemed fair, as I had no technical experience.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I don't really feel as though I have developed any skills during my placement.

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed atmosphere with regular casual conversation.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The information I received prior to arrival was very useful, but the lack of work during my placement led me to believe that it had not been well organised by the individual business unit.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I did not feel as though I was invested in while I was at the company, though I was offered a job upon leaving, which I did not accept.

    1/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I can see that other people may be happy with Atkins, but I have decided to work in a different sector that is not relevant to the company, so I wouldn't work for them again.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As far as I could tell, a few graduate events are organised through the year, but I wasn't invited to these as they were only open to graduates.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office I worked in was in Birchwood and I was living in Manchester, so I had to pay for a train ticket every day, which was very expensive. I socialised with my friends back in Manchester, so I don't know what prices are like in Warrington.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It is based on a business park, so there is no nightlife at all.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Only for full time staff.
