The Role
In the first few weeks, I enjoyed my Internship, as everyone was friendly and I spent my time becoming familiar with the company. However, as the Internship progressed there was a lack of available work and I became very bored.
My colleagues were all very friendly and welcoming.
My supervisor was very friendly and when I was given tasks, they were explained well.
I had very little to do and became really very bored, writing my CV and Covering letters for other jobs, as there was nothing to do.
The few tasks I were given were very basic tasks that nobody else felt like doing, but this seemed fair, as I had no technical experience.
I don't really feel as though I have developed any skills during my placement.
The Company
Relaxed atmosphere with regular casual conversation.
The information I received prior to arrival was very useful, but the lack of work during my placement led me to believe that it had not been well organised by the individual business unit.
I did not feel as though I was invested in while I was at the company, though I was offered a job upon leaving, which I did not accept.
I can see that other people may be happy with Atkins, but I have decided to work in a different sector that is not relevant to the company, so I wouldn't work for them again.
The Culture
As far as I could tell, a few graduate events are organised through the year, but I wasn't invited to these as they were only open to graduates.
The office I worked in was in Birchwood and I was living in Manchester, so I had to pay for a train ticket every day, which was very expensive. I socialised with my friends back in Manchester, so I don't know what prices are like in Warrington.
It is based on a business park, so there is no nightlife at all.
Only for full time staff.
