The Role
Good amount of responsibility & freedom for an intern and a very educational scheme
Everyone is very welcoming and happy to allocate time to help you out on queries, but your work will be predominantly independent, due to the structure of the scheme.
Though you are largely left to your own devices and nothing is spoon fed, help is always there when you need it.
I had to work pretty long hours in order to get the work done, due to my inexperience.
Your projects are very much reflective of the job in real life, but they do not contribute to the actual work of the firm, for obvious reasons.
It will assist me both academically and in terms of life skills gained, far beyond what I expected.
The Company
The atmosphere was pleasant, with a lot of really great people around the firm, but the nature of the work (research) limits interaction with colleagues.
The entire scheme was very well organised and set up to really develop the interns.
A training week in the first week and then sessions twice a week to learn more about the industry, as well as ongoing background help from colleagues.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
The internship is very competitive and though the company state there is a place for everyone who meets the requirements, the reality is that this will not be everyone.
The Culture
The social scene was fairly quiet, owing to the workload, but we went for lunch regularly and there were a few nights out.
It's central London...
Expensive, but plenty on offer
A trip to the races and a regular pizza night, as well as an outdoor activity evening.
