The Role
It was great ! I was working on the software team in robotics and everyone was really friendly and the work was fun and challenging.
Everyone told me I was doing a good job, everyone was willing to answer questions and help.. It couldn't have been much better.
My mentor/supervisor was always willing to help me and answer any questions I had, and when he wasn't around everyone else was willing to fill his role and assist me.
I had the right amount of work : I never felt too pressured, and at the same time I never really didn't have anything to do. If I ran out of work I could just ask and someone would assign me a little bit of work to do while I was waiting for a bigger task.
Since Dyson's a very competitive and secretive company I wasn't allowed to know anything about any of the more recent products, and my code had to follow the company guidelines, but other than that I was free to do it however I felt.
I really got a good feel of how to work seriously and I got great insight on how a company like Dyson stays innovative and competitive
The Company
Very friendly, big, open plan, well ventilated and light. Nothing to complain about ! Everyone was chatty and friendly too. There were a lot of facilities for employees too (gym, hairdresser..)
Lots of induction courses on all of the different teams and how the company worked, and my team did a great job of introducing me to the relevant tools and information.
A good amount of time and resources were put in so that the interns were aware of what was happening and happy.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen

Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop

I really hope to return at the end of my degree. There are so many exciting opportunities for people with all kinds of different backgrounds.
The Culture
Even though the office is in a small town, there were still social events with people after work (bar, restaurant..), there are company sport clubs around the neighbouring towns and cities, and amongst interns we frequently met up.
Decently cheap rent in the area (£350-450/mo), and the bars aren't too expensive either.
Apart from pubs, inexistant, unfortunately. If you live in Bristol, Bath or Chippenham though it's great.
Sports clubs, coding competitions, cycling.. There was a good choice.
