The Role
Really enjoyed my time at Santander!
My colleagues treated me fairly and equally and were extremely easy to get along with. They valued my input and treated me as if I had worked at Santander for a long time.
My manager was extremely helpful and approachable. She set me large and small-scale tasks and we had regular catch ups.
I was quite busy, especially after the first few weeks. The first few weeks were quite quiet but this was due to getting used to the business and how it functioned.
I was able to not only participate in large tasks, but also small tasks too. I participated in a wide variety of work and even got given the responsibility of running my own project in which I worked with numerous different business areas.
The skills I learnt at Santander were invaluable skills both in business and in terms of my personal life. I was trained to a very high level and taugh how to act professionally as well as how to enhance my skills in a variety of areas.
The Company
A good corporate working atmosphere, but was also relaxed and was able to chat to colleagues freely when appropriate.
Quite well organised - intern on-boarding and off-boarding events were a good way to socialise and we were in constant contact with various members of the recruitment team.
Not only was I given the opportunity to work in a variety of offices (Milton Keynes, London and Leicester), but I was also given the opportunity to have a day working in branch, attend training sessions and spend the day in a call centre. My routine was varied so I experienced a variety of different aspects of the firm and I was trained in a variety of skills.
Flexi Time

National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Extremely appealing - I would be thrilled to get a graduate job at Santander.
The Culture
Yes - all the interns were given an opportunity to meet within the first week and the interns organised drinks and dinners amongst themselves. Being set a CSR charity project also gave the interns a chance to socialise between divisions and offices.
I lived at home and my commute was a 1 hour 15 minute drive each way - petrol was not too expensive. Socilising was averagely and moderately priced - MK is not as expensive as London.
We didn't go out during the internship however frequently went for drinks and dinner which was good fun and not too expensive.
Yes - the CSR challenge was a good opportunity to partake in out of work activities.
