The Role
I enjoyed working in LBG and during the 10 weeks I was able to learn so much about the business. The warm and encouraging environment really helped me to grow as an individual and build my employability skills.
Colleagues are amazing here. They make sure that you don't feel left out in anything and always have enough time to answer any questions you have. This really made me open up to them and be myself throughout the 10 weeks and achieve my goals.
My line manager was fantastic ! She set a clear target in the start of my internship and made sure that I understood what was being expected . Throughout the internships I was given proper guidance and instructions during my analysis and presentation which made me a much stronger person when it comes to communicating results to colleagues.
It usually depends on the days. Some days I would be typing away and on calls in a room and another time I would be out and about researching and gathering information for projects.
I was placed within the community bank hence there wasn't much responsibility on the day to day roles within the branch. Most of my responsibilities include observing, conducting root cause analysis and providing feedback every week to the management and colleagues in the bank. Other responsibilities such as raising money for charity, event planning for local director and retail challenge were given.
There was definitely a lot to learn and remember . Something that I didn't learn in the university is taking people's emotions and sensitivity into consideration . . It made me realize that we are all humans and we don't have to know everything is learning journey. Organisational , analytical , communication and networking skills are something that you can always achieve from this internship. The people I have met during the 10 weeks and the experience I have gained through working in different projects has completely changed me as a person and how I will think in the future .
The Company
It was a quite enthusiastic environment to work .
It was very well organised and emerging talent always keep you updated during the whole course of the internship.
There were some webinars to give you an overview of the basics of banking and the induction really helped in understanding LBG.
It is very appealing as the banking sector is moving towards digital. So much projects that you get involved are very interesting . I got an offer to the graduate scheme and I am definitely taking up the offer.
The Culture
We did charity fundraising together and got some great feedback from the whole area. During the last day of my internship we managed to get everyone together for bowling !
I got free accommodation from LBG which made travelling much easier and cheaper. Living with other interns made gives you an idea of what everyone's experience is.
Kings Cross is a place full of pubs and just minutes away from Shoreditch. It was the perfect hub to wherever you wanted to go .
There was work shadowing and organising the reward and recognition night with the local director.
