About You
I certainly enjoyed the insight day at Centrica to an extent, but it was more a day for learning and for understanding and as such I found it to be more informative than enjoyable. In addition, I did not enjoy the activities altogether that much as they seemed to be aimed at a younger audience
I felt very valued during my time at Centrica. All of the staff that I met there clearly cared about us and I think that the company clearly values all prospective applicants. Additionally, there were always many staff on hand and around to help and to answer any questions that we had
The insight day at Centrica was a fully guided experience, to the extent that I would probably suggest that a few tasks that explore independent thinking would be a great addition. The staff and graduates on hand were all very helpful and supportive but best of all they were very friendly
I do not think that the skills i developed and the information that i received will be directly able to assist my degree studies as the session was predominantly non technical and so there is little that i could apply to my degree. However team building skills will be applicable beyond my degree
The Company
The Insight day was very well structured and the organisers used the time we had available effectively so that we got as much as we possibly could out of the day. At certain times the day felt a little too over structured and perhaps it would be a good idea to let people split off into groups of their own choosing based on their subject area
The general atmosphere during the insight day was very positive. The staff and grads from centrica did a great job of helping this by being very friendly and personable. the other students also helped in this regard by all being very friendly and chatty which helped add to the positive atmosphere
At centrica on the insight day i attended the only personal training and development excerise we underwent during the afternoon was the team building balloon tower building excerise. i think it would be unfair to expect them to invest much more seeing as no application process has of yet been carried out
the compant (centrica) was very helpful in this regard in particular because a great deal of the time spent on the insight day dealt with being told by various groups of people (for example recent grads or people who were on the centrica grad scheme or even just centrica staff) told us at length what their role was and this helped us
The insight day was very helpful in helping me to understand the company culture as I left with a much different sense of company culture than i went in with. Therefore in answer to the question "How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?" i would say they helped al lot
the content of the day was not that helpful in helping me to decide on my future career path primarily because i already had quite a good idea of the kind of career path that i was planning to persue in the future. In addition the lack of technical specific details in the day did not help to enlgithten me about my career path
Everything Else
I was not paid for this insight day. I was reimbursed for travel expenses, or so they have said i will be although this has not actually happened as of yet since i havent actually submitted the claim form and also it can take up to six weeks to get the claim to be processed and for the money to be credited to me. I hope that is clear.
There were ample opportunities for networking and meeting other emplyees of the company throught the day, and this number of networking opportunities was really fantastic. It allowed me to really decide on my future career path and the staff told us at length what their role was and this helped us
