The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, every day was a slightly different challenge.
I felt really valued, by the end of the placement they knew that if they gave me something to do it would get done, equally I knew I could ask them about anything I was struggling with.
I wasn't given a huge amount because everyone, especially my line manager were very busy for most of my placement.
There was plenty for me to do
Not as much as I would have liked
They have given me a much better insight into how a construction industry functions and the governance of different stakeholders in the project. It has also improved my people management skills which will help in group tasks at uni.
The Company
Relaxed, yet work focused and there was always a bit of banter flying around!
Well organised on the most part, however I think that line managers should have to come up with a more detailed plan of what the intern can do before he arrives at the placement. So that they have an idea of what he can do when the intern is there rather than having to take time to come up with something there and then.
I was taught how to use the company's info net site and also their file sharing system. I was also enrolled on several on-line courses while I was there.
Company Parties/Events
Pretty appealing
The Culture
Yeah we went out for drinks several times which was really fun
I lived from home so cost of living was fine, but it was in London so socialising was quite expensive
Really good, I was in central London
Yeah I did a 10k run with the charity
