The Role
I enjoyed the work: work/life balance was great. The teams were really helpful: learnt a lot about Audit and universal skills. Buddies were always there to help, but received advices and help from every level.
I felt very valued as I could add real value to the business. Everyone appreciated the tasks I delivered, and they were really thankful for my help. This was my most motivating experience as well, that I was recognized.
They not only supported me when I asked, but also when saw me struggling. As I said, I received recognition from every level.
At times, I was really busy and had to deliver results within a set time, while sometimes - because of the nature of the business - I had more free time. I had to realize that I have to accept these situations.
I had to prove my capability and motivation that I can help the teams I was working with. After this, I had opportunities to undertake tasks which are usually done by people who have 1-3 years of experience.
Although I had very strong excel skills, using it in practice was a different story. Enhanced therefore my excel skills. I had to do a presentation in front of top managers of the department. Learnt a lot about financial products, how other parts of the business work: global banking or asset management. My communication skills were developed to a completely new level.
The Company
Sometimes quiet and everyone did their own work, and sometimes it was more loud as teams had to discuss problems and situations. The environment was great overall.
I had no problem at all during the internship. Everything was working properly and set up by the time I arrived. I had a lot of opportunities to do different things. I am content with the organisation of the internship.
I had the opportunity to learn more about Bloomberg Terminal, SAS, substantive and controls of tests. Moreover I had access to a platform where I was able to do little courses online, which included Basel, VaR, Portfolio Management, etc. There are approximately 100 topics that interns can choose from.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Received a graduate role offer with very good advancing opportunties.
The Culture
I worked with very good people, not just colleagues but also fellow interns.
London was expensive, but I did not come here to get rich. The experience worth a lot more.
London has the best nightlife.
There were a couple, approximately every second week. Although I could have organised more with colleagues if I wanted to.
