The Role
I enjoyed the variety of work and the number of sites I visited, it was amazing to see the scale and apply the knowledge gained over the 1st 2 years of University
I felt very valued, and a major part of the team, spear heading some changes to the format of order forms They all were welcoming and I could talk to them about anything
My manager was always willing and available to help and even made time for any special information I required. They guided me towards achieving my yearly goal
Varied, but most days the perfect balance allowing me to work and manage myself under pressure as well as using the free times to organise and complete other necessary work
Some areas spear headed change, in others there was a set routine so wasn't given too much. Working on site required different responsibility however there was no stage where I was running the show
On site working as a QS and Engineer the work learnt in procurement/structures modules was applied and made a lot of sense Company wise, the procedures were different to those learnt in university
The Company
Very pleasant. Everyone was very welcoming, and helped wherever possible. The friendly atmosphere and being able to talk to anyone from the MDs to my colleagues was easy on a day to day basis. Everyone was happy and felt like a family atmosphere
Was well organised, having talked to my line manager and discussing targets that needed to be achieved which involved heading to site. The manager allowed myself to expand and use my skills and apply them to different situations. Would've been nice to have organised another site visit and a little bit more practical knowledge
There were many training sessions throughout the year in order to develop the relevant skills. The most important were those looking towards the future so changes will be seamless to the working world. As the year went through, the workload/work became harder as more was learnt.

As the work is continued to be won, there are more and more opportunities available. Jobs are readily available and with the new exciting projects arriving they are very appealing.
The Culture
There were frequent outings on a monthly basis, and weekly football in order to help the social aspect of work and develop the bond between the team
I travelled to work from parents home so cost was minimal and socialising is very cheap in a small town like Rugby
Nightlife is poor here, however the major cities/towns down the road are amazing and perfect for weekends out
Yes, there are many clubs and gyms etc. to get involved in and sign up - so much so that I had no evening of just relaxing, there was always something to do
