    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I truly enjoyed it every aspect of the job. Liaising and building relationships with people around the world within the company and outside. Solving challenging and different problems. I found it really really hard when I was leaving the work place.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My opinions were valued and considered on a discussion just like any normal person of the Team. I ended up leading and driving certain projects and that too on European level basis. Colleagues and Management in the company did not want me to leave and now sort considered as part of the family or like a furniture which has been there in the building.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I used to have regular meetings with my manager on a weekly basis. We used to discuss about the all the problems related to work and sometimes other things not directly related to work. They always used to think whether what I am doing will add value to me and to them, whether it would make me develope or whether it help me overcome my weaknesses etc...

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on working days as I was responsible for a lot of things, but still that didn't mean we did not have a social life in 3M. It was totally the other way around. Almost every week we had a no. of social or a sporting event. From football, basketball, gym to having an actual battle of the bands with in the company, where some the very senior management people compete against each other. In short, work really hard and party & celebrate even harder.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • There was a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, my tasks ranged from business critical to normal admin work.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think they will always used by me in my life. Presenting to large audiences, communicating with senior management, working in a team, leading projects and many technical, business aspects while related to projects in IT.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was great. Every one is cheerful and ready to help whenevr you need to ask anything. The usual friendly banters going around, tea and coffee in between. It was simply great.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think it was very well organised from the starting of our placement training to the end, where the senior management took our opinions as to what they can do to improve this placement experience in future.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a handover process with in the company. The previous year placement student is responsible to train and get you up to speed. The management also invested their time in explaining the ethics of the business and also discussing about the right way to do and carry out tasks.

    4/5

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Well, they all did not want me to leave certainly. My manager and senior management have spoken to me about future possible graduate role, which I really am excited about.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was fantastic. There were social events and trips regularly organised by people with in the department. We played sports on a very regular basis. Had club meetings with other placement students from other departements such Marketing and Business. The colleagues working along with you are also very nice and have made some friends for life.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We used to work in Bracknell, which is an industrial area but it still had bowling, pool and other hanging places to hang out. If we were looking for more, we could always chip to Wokingham, Reading or London. I used to commute from Croydon but my salary was well enough to cover my travelling and living expenses.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in the area was not one the most fabulous but it was good enough to spend time with friends and colleagues. A lot of pubs in the area along with pool, and bowling venues.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, besides having alot of social events as mentioned earlier we also had public events, even if they were for charity such blood donation, 3M 4Good scheme etc...
