About You
The programme was really informative. In this programme, the participants were given the opportunity to find out more about 2 lines of business in the bank. So, I got to understand the different roles the bank offers. The graduate recruitment team also organised a lot of networking sessions throughout the programme.
The graduate recruitment team really put in a lot of effort to ensure that the participants get the most out of the programme. They provided me with an accommodation close to the office. They also invite junior banks and senior executive to talk to us and share about their experiences with us.
The employees were extremely friendly and approachable. Whenever, I have a question, they were always more than happy to help me or refer me to the right person who can answer my question. The graduate recruitment team also organised a session for the participants to learn more about networking and presentation skill.
We had opportunities to work on a few case studies and group exercises. I personally felt that the case studies and group exercises were extremely useful as they were opportunities for participants to practice for the actual assessment in the internship/ full-time role application process. They were also good opportunities to learn from other participants.
The Company
The sessions always started on time. The programme was fully packed with various sessions to ensure that the participants get the most out of the insight programme. The bank emphasised the importance of networking in developing our career. So, the recruitment team ensured that we have plenty of opportunities to network with junior and senior bankers.
The group of participants in this summer insight were extremely friendly and intelligent. People were willing to work together in a team and help each other. It was good to find that the participants were extremely enthusiastic when it comes to asking questions, and they asked many intelligent questions which helped all of us to learn more about the bank and get valuable career advice.
Talking to the employees on graduate scheme definitely helped me to get to know more about the transition from university life to working life. They employees also shared about the challenges that they faced when they first started working and gave us valuable advice on how to deal with those challenges.
There were plenty of opportunities to talk to the people across different lines of business and positions at the bank. From what I get, the bank promotes diversity as seen from the different networking groups that are present in the bank. Moreover, the bank is also supportive of employee mobility to help develop the talents of its employees.
Everything Else
The bank provided the participants with accommodations located near its offices for those who needed a place to stay during the programme. There were also people from other countries who could get reimbursement for their flight ticket and traveling expenses.
Throughout the insight programme, there were a lot of networking opportunities. Those events were useful to get a better understanding of application process, the bank’s culture, day-to-day activities of bankers in different roles. The bank placed a lot of emphasis on the importance of networking, so we found out that the employees can always find a network group to join.
The bank prides itself in its Corporate Social Responsibility. It sets an ambitious target to get encourage employees to take up various volunteering roles to give back to the community. The bank is involved in conservation of various forms of arts, activities to promote gender equality and education for youths, etc.
I would definitely recommend anyone who is considering a career in banking to participate in this event. The insight programme is an amazing opportunity to learn more about a bank, to hear firsthand from the employees about their experiences working in the bank so that one can be discover for himself/herself whether a career in banking and the bank’s culture would suit him/her.
