About You
I really enjoyed it - a packed 3 days which was very useful with a good mix of networking and presentations.
Everyone who worked at the firm seemed really keen to talk to us and network with us and so it felt as if BAML wanted us there. They put on extensive networking events over the 3 days and many different employees from all different departments and levels gave up their time to meet us.
If you used the networking opportunities to garner more information then there was a lot of guidance available and insights from their current employees. The presentations throughout the week and the next step gave us further support of how to progress after the insight week.
Perhaps not so much in my degree studies however skills gained in networking, managing your brand and generally more knowledge about the banking industry are life skills and will help with a career in the industry.
The Company
Reasonably so. It was difficult as there was only 3 days and so hard to fit in everything. I personally would have liked more of the presentations to be split into either front office or back office to give us more content that was relevant to us as most people knew which of these they were focused towards. This structure may have proved more beneficial. Also, perhaps an introduction to each of the departments on the first day would have been useful.
Everyone was really positive and happy.
A fair amount in terms of networking and public speaking skills, key attributes to be successful in the banking industry and other skills gained throughout the week.
A large amount as we spend a lot of time networking and talking to employees from all different divisions so got an insight from all angles when we were with them. However, there was very little/no work shadowing so we did not see the actual day to day work life of the employees and perhaps this would have proved beneficial to glee a greater sense of the culture and atmosphere of bank of america.
As stated above, we were rarely with the employees in their work setting so harder to understand. However, the general atmosphere portrayed by the employees during networking events demonstrated a positive culture to work in.
Very valuable.
Everything Else
We were provided accommodation if we lived outside of London and we were also reimbursed travel expenses. Lunches and breakfast were provided each day and there was a networking dinner one night.
So many opportunities. We had a drinks networking event on the first evening, a networking breakfast, speed networking events, networking dinner and various opportunities to meet representatives from all departments.
The networking dinner was very well organised. We had 2 business representatives on each table who rotated after every course which gave us the opportunity to speak to many people in great depth. There networking drinks was also beneficial and enjoyable.
There was talk of sports teams that employees were part of. We had a networking event from the different employee network groups e.g. women's network, military etc and also a talk on volunteering opportunities at BAML.
Yes, definitely.
