About You
The insight had been an amazing opportunity that showed how welcoming and supportive the atmosphere is in the bank. I enjoyed all of the activities created because they have been well-planned to develop my skills and understanding of different divisions. I also enjoyed the sessions for personal development and interactions with people you have just met.
I did not feel ignored or neglected by anyone, whether that was a representative of a division or a student. I had been treated like an individual and I let my ideas and opinions to be heard. The employees went above and beyond to help and assist me with any enquiries or help I would need and ask for. I value this time a lot because despite of their work, employees would give up their time to talk to us.
I understood everything I needed to do due to simple explanations to help the students to start off. For any questions I had, I e-mailed the employees I talked to and they replied with large amounts of information to answer or explain the question I had. I also attended various networking sessions that helped me get in touch especially with the people working in the sector I was strongly interested in.
These are invaluable skills and information that can be transferred through my studies. Many would be networking, decision-making, self-improvement, motivation, economic concepts etc. However, how to act at the work place or what exactly each devision does, are going to help me beyond my degree studies as those can be applied to the job in that area because it is specific knowledge.
The Company
The first day was great for networking with other students so we all could become comfortable and familiar with each other, which build a connection between the students that most of the time led to more help and support. The second day was the highlight because I found out more information from each division. However, I would've enjoyed some work shadowing, or at least a case study such as the one used for investment.
The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. However, it did become slightly tensed a few times when some students were interrupting someone else talking to prove their skills and knowledge. Yet, at the same time, that motivated many people as they also wanted to prove their skills. Apart from this, everyone was very respectful and it almost felt as all the employees are part if a big, supportive family.
There were various sessions dedicated to personal development, such as one that had been done by a stand up comedian. For example, how to act confident when meeting a professional or how to sound convincing and how to retain and not show how nervous I can be during a meeting or an interview or talking to an audience.
The networking sessions allowed me to talk to employees and they tried to explain in as much detail as possible their work ethic, their working hours and what their work generally entails. Of course, that varies with the circumstances of a specific day such as having an urgent deal to work on. Yet, I believe that work shadowing for a couple of days would be clearer for me to understand how the day really goes like.
Every representative of each division discussed of how they feel coming to work and how supportive and helpful employees are between themselves. They seemed to enjoy going to work because of the friendly and positive atmosphere. Many also talk about events that happen throughout the year.
I really enjoyed how detailed each session was because it made it easier and clearer for me to decide and understand what I want my future career to be in and why.
Everything Else
Not applicable.
There were networking events every single day during breakfast, lunch, after work and dinner that allowed me to meet representatives from each division and ask all the questions I had in mind and discover as much new information as possible. There were also sessions between breaks such as the senior panel during the last day.
They were perfectly structured to cover every single division. Moreover, they were supportive and helpful into finding out as much information as possible.
Many enjoy playing sports such as football or going to the gym because it helps them to stay healthy mentally as well as physically. Additionally, some enjoy taking part in volunteering and charity opportunities to support and help the society which leaves a positive impact outside of the work place.
I would recommend this to a friend with no second thinking because I found it extremely useful.
