The Role
Great opportunity to gain managerial experience from day 1 and gain an insight into the day-to-day runnings of the company from a sales perspective as well as having the opportunity to work in Head Office, property and in the warehouse.
Everyone I met made me feel very welcome and helped me during my training to develop my skills to progress on to the next stage.
All of the Store Managers were very helpful and worked towards developing my training and gave me as much exposure to improve my skills and give me real life experience.
Moving around the company I was able to see the different roles and responsibilities people have so I was never bored and everyday in store was always different with plenty of jobs to be getting on with.
Going through each module I was given more and more responsibility, from delegating tasks to holding the safe and opening and closing the store. I was given the exposure to see and do the roles as a Store Manager and District Manager.
I do not think I would have received training like this anywhere else as with Lidl you have the opportunity to see and experience every aspect of the business which will help me in my final year of university.
The Company
In store the atmosphere was always high with positive staff morale.
The placement was well organised in terms of seeing every aspect of the business and working in line with the programme however in some instances people weren't ready for your visit which was disappointing.
I was given other opportunities away from the programme to develop interpersonal and management skills, to gain as much experience as possible.
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Opportunity to work part-time with them whilst returning to univeristy and chance to apply for the Graduate Area Manager Scheme.
The Culture
I got on well with the other placement students, regularly meeting up with them during the programme.
I wasn't expected to move and the salary is good.
Located where I lived already so I was use to the nightlife in the area.
In some stores you can get involved in playing sports and there is a Christmas party.
