The Role
I've had a brilliant three months. Gained great insight into both Unilever as a company and HR. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in learning more about a career path with them.
I have been given real responsibility and tasks, I've been allowed to resolve issues which will affect how Unilever operates in the future. My opinion was trusted and valued irrelevant of my lack of experience. I was encouraged to participate in discussions, bring in my own knowledge and suggest solutions.
My team gave me the perfect balance making it clear that any support I needed was available, but also giving me the opportunity to accomplish tasks myself and to gain confidence. Every member of Unilever was willing to help, even beyond their roles. I've also been encouraged to meet and talk to anyone in the business, to reach out and learn about all the different aspects of Unilever's operations.
There has always been more work if I've asked for it, similarly they've ensured that I could cope with the amount I had on. They gave me time at the beginning to find my feet and learn the processes.
Massive responsibility, I was trusted to cover for my bosses while they were on holiday. I was able to make decisions and follow up on actions. The projects I'm working on affect the company as a whole.
The placement has bought my degree to life, provided real-life case studies of the theory I study. I've grown in confidence, business motivation, consumer focus, vendor management. It's hard to believe how much I covered in such a short period and how much I've learnt.
The Company
Professional and efficient, but relaxed, happy, chilled and calm. A brilliant working environment
I was contacted before I arrived by my Manager to get a welcome. He met me upon arrival. I've been in contact with the recruitment team throughout, the induction was comprehensive and relaxing. They were late giving us out locations and I was given the wrong finish date originally, a couple of forms which we should have received at the beginning we only were sent at the end.
I've been encouraged to meet with anyone to learn more about their department. I've had weekly meetings with my manager to discuss my progress, skill development and how to further this.
